Boiler Project at UCB
UCB’s boiler was assessed and condemned end of life, due to the fact it was over 25+ years old and the parts were obsolete.
IDWe Ltd were asked to return and install a second new Lochinvar 400 Kw Boiler at UCB, following on from the assessment.
IDWe Ltd Services Supplied
Firstly, our team attended the site prior to commencing the works. They were there to take samples of the existing water quality and provided the results to UCB.
The works
To ensure it was safe to remove the redundant boiler, we needed to isolate the connecting gas, water, electrical supplies and then drain down the pipework.
Following on from this, we built a mobile scaffold tower to remove the flue of the redundant boiler, for it to be safely removed.
Secondly, to install the new Lochinvar 400 Kw Boiler, we provided a temporary ramp to manually manoeuvre the new boiler into place. As well as, adapting and reconnecting all the existing gas pipework to suit the new boiler installation, including a new safety valve.
Next, we installed condense pipework to drain to a local foul drain, complete with a neutralising box. This was for future use to control the pH value and eliminates metal oxides.
The final connections were put in place, and we were able to release the water isolation valve to fill the pipework and boiler. Then our team tested for any potential leaks.
We supplied and installed pipework lagging to the new boiler pipework to ensure it was insulated.
Meeting Industry Standards
Lastly, to meet industry standards, various safety tests were carried out and submitted, including:
- Gas Safety Certification
- BS7671 Electrical Tests
- Submit NICEIC Electrical Certification
To activate the boilers warranty, our engineers handed over to Lochinvar to commission the new boiler.
All redundant items were disposed at a licensed refuse/recycling facility upon completion of work.
Result of works –
In conclusion, everything was left in good working order and UCB were happy with their new boiler installation.
There was minimal disruption to UCB services.
