Safe Removal of Redundant Electrical & Diesel Generator
Client – BGIS
Site Location – Third Space Gym, London, W1
Duration – 4 days, out of hours
The brief
The diesel generator was requested to be safely removed from site by our qualified and experienced engineers as it was redundant.
Highlights of Services Completed Included
Our engineers visited the site out of normal working hours, as access to the site was restricted between peak times.
We removed the outer castings surrounding the generator and disconnected the battery.
Using scaffolding, the generator was broken down into small manageable pieces and we drained the water, oil, and diesel from the engine.
These small pieces could only be manually removed from site by using block and tackles and trolleys, to assist with lifting the moving parts up and out from the lightwell.
When transferring the sections through the building, we had to protect the wall and floor areas we passed from any damage using cordex and plywood as required.
Once out of the building with the small sections, we removed the parts from the site using our transportation.
All redundant liquids and parts were taken to an environmentally friendly disposal from site.
When all the work had been completed, we replaced the previously removed grating.
The site was left clean and tidy.
Result
The site was left clean and tidy.
Please note, all redundant liquids and parts were taken to an environmentally friendly disposal from site.
